Sri Lanka's longest bridge, Kinniya Bridge is located at the Batticaloa - Tirikkondiadimadu - Trincomalee (AA015) road, across the Kinniya bay. The civilians used to cross the Kinniya bay by ferry before construction of the new bridge. The bridge project commenced in February 2006 and opened to the public on 20th October 2009.
Construction was supervised by the Road Development Authority, funded by GOSL and Government of Saudi Arabia.
