Colombo - Kandy Highway

Background

This is an alternative Highway between Colombo and Kandy. This is  connected to the Outer Circular Highway at Kadawatha and run up to Katugastota.  Currently feasibility studies are going on.

 

Feasibility Study

  • To find an alternate road to existing Colombo-Kandy road
    •  
  • To identify areas for future development and to provide road facilities for those areas.

Design Speed : Upto Devalegama - 100 km / h
    From Devalegama to Katugastota - 80 km / h
Length : 98 km    
No. of Lanes : Kadawata to Ambepussa - 4 Lanes (with provision for 6 lanes in future)
    Ambepussa to Devalegama - 2 Lanes (with provision for 4 lanes in future)
    Devalegama to Katugastota - 2 Lanes
